No matter what year we’re in now, Willie Nelson is still one of America’s greats, country or otherwise—even cartoon characters such as Hank Hill vie for his favor, and when you’ve got the two-dimensional world as smitten as the much-easier 3-D one, that’s when you’ve got something special. Opening are Nelson’s son Lukas’ band Promise of the Real, who push more toward a Quicksilver/Rolling Stones kind of rock & roll beneath a voice that sounds way too old for a kid somewhere around 21. Can’t remember exactly why guys in this family are always getting arrested—probably the feds worry about their running around free.
