The Santa Ana indie band formally known as Aushua rock soaring vocals reminiscent of ’90s groups such as James and Travis, and the name change to Pacific Hurt seems to have served them well, as they have been obsessively signing on for residencies all over the place while simultaneously recording a new album. Though online material featuring the band’s new stuff is sparse, the website currently offers a recording of the song “Daydream #1,” which opens with a surprisingly wicked bass line, considering the band’s penchant for ethereal reverb-laden voxes and git boxes. Are Pacific Hurt fans in store for an upgrade? The holidays are looking up.
