There’s always a lot of fuss made over the last day of the year. But what about the second-to-last? It has nearly as much chronological significance, with much fewer expectations. At least, that seems to be the thinking behind the Dec. 30 event at the House of Blues. It’s a gathering of several ska bands—Starpool, Suburban Legends, Chase Long Beach and La Banda Skalavera—hosted by Jesse Wagner, singer/lead guitarist of perennial reggae favorites the Aggrolites. Headliners Starpool are from Anaheim and fronted by former No Doubt member Alan Meade; they’ve got some ex-Save Ferris players in there, too. A ska show with local bands playing at Disneyland : If you can find a more uniquely Orange County happening this week, let’s see it.
