When world-famous whale painter Wyland announces the arrival of surfing Santas, most people tend to look confused. But to those in the know, Surfin’ Santas is simply the Wyland Foundation’s event to advance its programs aimed at spreading the knowledge of our ocean environments through art education and activities. Taking place the day after Thanksgiving, the nonprofit’s seventh-annual fund-raiser features a silent auction and performances by Nick-I from Common Sense, Paperback Hero and Steven Ybarra. Even Dick Dale, the “King of Surf Guitar” and Wyland Foundation board member, will join in the fun.
