Flight of the Firebird

Irvine Barclay Theatre

Who knew a little Russian man born in the late 19th century would compose music that would later inspire and influence ’90s rock bands such as Yes? Witness revolutionary composer (and little Russian man) Igor Stravinsky’s breakthrough ballet, The Firebird . This production of the breathtaking ballet, which debuted in Paris in 1910, blends classic with contemporary, as the original work of Stravinsky is paired with modern-day choreographer Nikolai Kabaniaev. The magical Russian folk tale follows Prince Ivan in his pursuit of the enchanted, glowing bird, known to be both a blessing and a curse for its captor.
