Now that the Anaheim Ducks have retired their best player, Scott Niedermayer, and their aging hockey veterans are dropping like it’s hunting season, the team has spent the off-season preparing its newest crop of talent to take the reins. Call them a quiet threat: The Ducks are lurking in the playoff picture with a new attitude and a younger roster. It’s too soon to tell if our feathered friends will be flying into Stanley Cup territory, but they’re definitely preparing to drop some Canadians at this week’s home opener against the Vancouver Canucks.
