Much of the current zombies trenda new Resident Evil is out this week, The Walking Dead series starts on AMC next monthcan be attributed back to 28 Days Later, the nouveau horror classic from Trainspotting director Danny Boyle. Sure, theyre not technically zombies, since theyre living humans infected by a rage virus, but the same principles of banding together in the face of looming disaster remain (even if these zombies are fast instead of the traditional slow and plodding). Since the films 2003 domestic release, star Cillian Murphy has been featured in huge hitslike this summers Inceptionand Boyle helmed a feel-good Best Picture winner called Slumdog Millionaire. All of this makes 28 Days Later a pretty perfect choice for a midnight screening in this still zombie-obsessed society.
