Long Beach Playhouse

Playwright Eric Overmyer tackles the perplexing and hilarious adventures of three Victorian ladies on their safari into the future in this is over-the-top spoof of ultra femininity and social mores. Filled with enough pop culture gags to shake a rubber chicken at, the story follows three distinct personality types as they try to make head and shoulders out of things to come: Mary Baltimore, the leader of the pack, is bent on deciphering every mysterious item they uncover (what exactly is Cool Whip?); youngster Alex Cafuffle is the perpetual doe in the headlights; and uptight Fanny Cranberry just can’t get into Elvis Presley’s gyrating groin. Tag along with the gals and the wacky beings they encounter in this turn-of-the-century sci-fi send-up.
Fridays, Saturdays, 8 p.m.; Sundays, 2 p.m. Starts: Aug. 14. Continues through Sept. 12, 2010
