In 1980, the most famous of the SNL veteran players hijacked local theaters: John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd taught the crackers soul in The Blues Brothers, and Chevy Chase and Bill Murray starred in one of the best ensemble comedy casts in history­—all set on a golfing green. Who can forget the Baby Ruth in the pool, Murray’s ball washing for Mrs. Crane (the monkey woman), Bishop Pickering being struck by lightning, every line Chase smirked out, Rodney Dangerfield’s souped-up golf bag, and Ted Knight’s damaged package.
