Across the globe, people of all shapes, sizes, colors and creeds, move rhythmically to the sounds of music—that is, everyone except the residents of that evil town from Footloose. It’s as if there is a calling to move to music embedded deep within the human soul, as natural as breathing, but the way it has evolved stylistically differs vastly from region to region. The 2010 International Dance Festival, brought to you by the Anaheim Ballet and led by Lawrence and Sarma Rosenberg, aims to immerse art lovers into the world of dance by gathering dancers from around the world—including the American Theatre Ballet, the Joffre Ballet and the New York City Ballet—and educating the public by allowing dancers to share their art form.
Sun., Aug. 8, 8 p.m., 2010
