Faded Paper Figures started here in Orange County, attracting critical attention and gaining a following with the thoughtful synthpop of their 2008 record Dynamo. Then lead singer/guitarist R. John Williams moved to the east coast last year for a job as an associate English professor at Yale. (We told you they were thoughtful—vocalist Heather Alden is a med student at UCLA.) That could have been the end of the trio, at least as far as this half of the country could tell, but instead they got their song "Polaroid Solution" on Grey's Anatomy, finished a new record (this past May's New Medium), and are now triumphantly returning to Southern California with a headlining show at the Glass House in Pomona. Opening up the bill are Baton Rouge band We Landed on the Moon and Orange County cutiepies Honeypie.
