Everyone knows that Dick Dale has a guitar—but Dick Dale also has (at last report) Mustangs and Arabians—the horses—and surfing dogs, tigers and lions which used to sleep with him in his own bed. And when Elsa, his most beloved lion, died, Dick Dale was so overcome by pure anguish and love that he had a transcendental experience and almost passed through a gate to the other side—which surely would have been to the happy land fur-fur away that Krazy Kat was always dreaming of. Point being: Os Mutantes could shred some serious guitar but at most they only ever had collie dogs. Dick Dale isn’t the king of the surf guitar; he is an ambassador from the beyond. They don’t make ‘em like this anymore and they never will start up again, either.
