By the time 1959 rolled around, Marilyn Monroe was already one of the biggest stars on the planet—so when Some Like It Hot came out, it only made her shine even brighter. Add to the mix cross-dressing Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis as two buddies running from the mob and a classic comedic film was born. To help keep cinephiles cool during these hot summer nights, the Orange County Performing Arts Center brings us “Free for All Movie Mondays,” a weekly gratis screening of family-friendly gems, complete with animated shorts from the Newport Beach Film Festival prior to the feature. This week sees Miss Monroe in what Entertainment Weekly named the ninth greatest film of all time. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets, lawn chairs and snacks.
