Specializing in Latin American contemporary art, the folks of Salt Fine Art decided to take a spin around the globe for their latest exhibit, “Colectiva.” Eight countries and 16 artists later (sometimes only spending a day or two exploring each territory), they snapped up as much new art as they could, and now invite you to come see the spoils of their trek. We’re most interested to check out the work of new artist (new to Salt, anyway) Irene Pressner, whose innovative and interestingly experimental techniques include using a tattoo gun to burn images into beeswax (it has a “sensual, human feel,” she says). The result is as elegant as it is unique—we’d plaster an entire room with Betty, a golden checkerboard alternating floral details and Betty Boop’s adorable mug.
