A few elements are essential for a Fourth of July party to be truly taken seriously. Fireworks, duh. BBQ, sure. Beer, of course. All of these familiar trappings can be found on board the Queen Mary in Long Beach this Independence Day for their “BBQ, Brews and Red, White and Blues” event, along with, you might have guessed by now, blues music—from LA’s Flattop Tom & His Jump Cats and the even more colorfully named 2000 Lbs of Blues. Also on the bill: Americana act Lisa Haley and the Zydekats (patriotic holidays are always a good time to be in an Americana band). The BBQ lineup itself is fairly diverse, boasting national pride in the form of Carolina, Texas, Kansas City and St. Louis style fare. These flavors don’t run!
