Ever wonder if a place exists in which you can sip Champagne from a can and still look chic? Well, it doesn't. But if it did, the setting would be the Basement Lounge (aka Club 149) on a Wednesday night. Once a week this subterranean hot spot hosts the Light-Bulb Mouth Radio Hour. This cultural exhibition and all-encompassing variety show kicks off with an open, six-person poetry contest and then highlights one author (CSULB professor, Clint Margrave), musical guest (Eugene and the 1914) and informationist (Buzzy Enniss on how to make people get married). These elements make for a night of intellectually-stimulating discussions and enthralling performances. The party continues well after the show when some of Long Beach's finest DJs bust out their vinyl for a late-night groove session.
