Letters From OC Weekly Readers

Wow! A well-researched article that does in-depth investigative reporting [R. Scott Moxley’s “Bill Hunt’s Gangsta Rap,” June 4]. I didn’t think those existed any more.

This story is a good rendition of the Bill Hunt narrative. Unfortunately for OC voters, there is more to the story than Hunt supporters (and Moxley, apparently) would like to believe. As a private investigator, Hunt has participated in the defense of numerous defendants, including an [alleged] gang member. It will be up to voters to decide if they think it is ethical for a sheriff’s candidate to participate in such cases and if they think it shows good judgment for a sheriff’s candidate to accept them. It seems to me that it is irrelevant who the whistleblower is if the story is true.

Once again, OC will toss out an honest and intelligent official [Sheriff Sandra Hutchens] and replace her with a pile of dog shit. Stupid is as stupid does.

Another long-winded diatribe from Hunt’s spokeshole to try to deflect the criticism of his standard-bearer. Hunt works for rapists, gangbangers, wife-beaters and God knows who else. Yes, they are all entitled to a defense, but the general public and crime victims are also entitled to a chief law-enforcement officer who looks out for their interests, too. Hunt could have investigated insurance fraud, commercial theft, embezzlement and various other private enterprises. Instead, he chose to take the skills he learned from his law-enforcement career (at taxpayer expense) and utilize them for a quick buck from the dregs of society. Sorry, that’s not a trait we look for in our sheriff.

The awfully convenient 11th-hour smear of Bill Hunt stinks to high heaven! Makes one wonder if he was set up? So typical of the dirty creeps he is up against who will do ANYTHING to maintain their corrupt stronghold over this county. Particularly after their comrade Mike Carona lost his. May the best man finally win this time: Bill Hunt! God bless you, Bill.

The Schroeders are evil, evil, evil, evil, people! Not that I condone helping gang members, but I don’t believe a thing Susan Schroeder says. She and her husband, Mike Schroeder, are incredibly unethical people.

OC is in desperate need of a law-enforcement cleaning, which, in my opinion, would require a federal public-corruption indictment of District Attorney Tony Rackauckas; his chief of staff, Susan Kang Schroeder; Rackauckas’ political advisor Michael J. Schroeder; Sheriff Sandra Hutchens; and sheriff candidate Craig Hunter, for failing to protect the civil rights of children, adults, employees and families in their day-to-day business decisions as law-enforcement officials and attorneys licensed to practice law in the state of California. With a new sheriff in town—hopefully Bill Hunt—OC citizens will begin to witness what integrity in law enforcement should be, not what it has been in Orange County because OC GOP politicos now govern decisions relating to investigations and prosecutorial decisions. Sheriff Hutchens had her chance to do the right thing—and she blew it off for politics and a future of pension double dipping. Craig Hunter had his chance to do the right thing—and refused to investigate potential corruption crimes in the city of Anaheim. Bill Hunt is Orange County’s only hope for safety and justice. Please do your homework before voting for one of the tainted candidates for OC sheriff.

What’s obvious is Susan Kang Schroeder is canvassing the district attorney’s office on the taxpayers’ dime looking for cases that Hunt worked on. Big effing deal. The guy is a PI like most retired cops. Dave Lopez is a whore with zero journalistic integrity whose brother is a Santa Ana cop. Coincidence? Sure. Got some land for ya.

That Susan Schroeder chick should be turned over to the Department of Justice and State Bar for her lying ways and violations under the color of authority. Disgusting how our local government has been overrun by these scoundrels. Can’t wait to have someone shut them down.

On the cover of this issue [John Gilhooley & Megan Brescini’s “Kitchen Ink,” June 4], the man should be wearing a glove on the cooking side, not the knife side—very unsanitary.

I remember the day I gave Angela [Rossi] a stack of exquisite antique plates, hoping to find them hung in perfect order on her wall [Vickie Chang’s Trendzilla, “The Porcelain Is Strong in This One,” June 4]. I did find them on her wall, embellished with mohawk ’dos, tattooed circus acts, Darth Vader and more. Truth is, I kinda like them. She is incredible in every way. Proud to say it, I’m her mom.
