Best known for his 1996 hit Sordid Lives (which later turned into a cult-fave film and cable series), playwright and director Del Shores made his first sassy splash six years earlier with this black comedy about a bunch of scheming, trashy relatives trying to get a hold of a wad of loot—Texas-style. Filled with Bible-thumpers, stupid children, over-sexed vamps and a few goody-two-shoes sprinkled in between, Dyin’ has all the staple Shores-style Southern witticisms and rude remarks and is ripe comedy for anyone who longs for Julia Roberts to kick off in that other gal-gaggled po-dunker, Steel Magnolias —because if you don’t have anything nice to say, sit by me. Or just see this show.
Fridays, Saturdays, 8 p.m.; Sundays, 2 p.m. Starts: May 7. Continues through June 5, 2010
