Kitchari Kindness

Whole Foods

Time for a little spring cleaning for your insides. Kitchari—meaning “mixture”—is a porridge-like Indian dish generally consisting of rice and mung beans. Keep reading because this is actually really good for you. Seasoned with all kinds of fancy spices, kitchari is used during fasting to help supply one’s body with essential nutrients. Assisting us “if it doesn’t come in a frozen box or from a drive-thru window, we don’t want it” Americans down a more beneficial road, Whole Foods Markets across the country have been hosting health-minded cooking classes. The Tustin location’s latest session is called “Kitchari Kindness” and you’re encouraged to join host Megan McCarver as she demonstrates how to prepare this delicious, nutritious Ayurvedic meal.
