The word “prolific” gets thrown around a lot these days, especially when talking about Ryan Adams or any musician that manages to put an album every couple of years. The bar has definitely been lowered—Bob Dylan was putting out classic records every six months or so in the mid-’60s—but one artist that had definitely earned that tag is San Francisco rapper Andre Nickatina. Since debuting in 1993 as “Dre Dog,” he’s released about 20 albums, including this month’s Khan! The Me Generation . Though Nickatina’s not too well-known outside of the Bay Area, he clearly has enough of a following to justify playing the 1,700-capacity Grove of Anaheim. How much his popularity is affected by the Booty Star and Sweet Cheeks DVDs he sells on his Web site is less clear.
