Corpus Christi

Church of the Foothills

Elton John recently said he thinks “Jesus was a compassionate, super-intelligent gay man who understood human problems.” Playwright Terrence McNally had a similar vision and turned his ideas into a play—and ended up receiving numerous death threats and a condemnation by the Catholic League. Ferociously protested by religious conservatives, Corpus Christi , the story of Jesus and the Apostles depicted as gay men living in present-day Texas, makes a stop at the Church of the Foothills this holiday during the theater group’s 2010 Spring Compassion Tour. The play’s tagline? “Challenge everything you believe.”
