Carving out an infectious, innovative niche in the world of testosterone-driven alt-metal, CKY’s aggressive rock riffage still packs plenty of punch after 10-plus years. The highly anticipated release of 2009’s Carver City —the band’s first album in four years—proved that some rock bands actually do get more badass with age. Experimental textures and synth trails complement their unbridled thrash appeal—and CKY’s music is still the perfect soundtrack to any extreme sport or ill-advised stunt. But what else would one expect from a band who have the cast of MTV’s Jackass in their corner? (Bam Margera is brother to drummer Jess.) This week, the Pennsylvania-based outfit bring their head-banging rock to the Galaxy.
