A lot of things in a lot of facets of pop culture get hit with the “influential” tag, but Rob Reiner’s This Is Spinal Tap really contributed quite a lot in shaping the future of “mockumentaries” for years to come. The Office, Reno 911! and Borat all borrowed heavily from the film, as do the movies of Spinal Tap star Christopher Guest (Best in Show, A Mighty Wind). So with the format more popular now than ever, what better time to revisit the 1984 note-perfect skewering of heavy metal bands, once again experiencing “Tonight I’m Gonna Rock You Tonight,” mysteriously dying drummers and amps that go to eleven. Keep an eye out for cameos by folks such as Dana Carvey, Fran Drescher and Anjelica Houston. This Is Spinal Tap at the Art Theatre, 2025 E. Fourth St., Long Beach, (562) 438-5435; www.arttheatrelongbeach.com. 11:55 p.m. $10.
Fri., March 12, 11 p.m., 2010
