MOLAA’s after-dark program promises a little funk and a chance to get a little drunk, too, thanks to San Francisco-via-Chile band Funky C as well as a complimentary Chilean wine-tasting. But the best part is the opportunity for the guided tour of the current “Changing the Focus” exhibit, recent Latin American photography collected into loose groups based on the photographer’s particular relationship to realism (pro-, anti- or sur-, basically) and which the LA Times lauded as “ambitious and engrossing.” There’s ruin, pain, pollution, disillusion, sorrow, power, comedy, grotesquerie and more across several dozen pieces from photographers working between 1990 and 2005.
