In the Chance Theaters production Jesus Hates Me, life has not been kind to poor Ethan. Working at his familys southern Texas backyard business, the Lamb of God mini-golf course, he simply wants to get through the week in one piece. In high school, he showed tremendous promise playing footballuntil he blew out his knee. Now he must deal with his over-zealous and angry mother, fed in part by her Christian fervor and in part by her bipolar disorder. Add to that a pot-smoking cop, some unrequited love, a suicidal brother, Ethans books by Nietzsche, and the answers clear: he needs to get the hell out. Then theres Jesusor rather, the stolen Walmart mannequin over Hole 17 whose sad eyes now gaze questioningly down at Ethan. Whats a boy to do?
Fridays, Saturdays, 8 p.m.; Sundays, 2 p.m. Starts: Feb. 26. Continues through March 7, 2010
