See ya in hell, Year of the Ox! It's now the Year of the Tiger, according to the lunisolar Chinese calendar. Tigers are inarguably cooler than some dumb ox, so there are clearly plenty of reasons to be happy. Bowers Museum is getting in on the festivities with all the requisite cultural events: lion dance, folk dances from the American Chinese Dance Association, traditional music, Tai Chi demonstrations and a tea ceremony. Chinese New Year is actually next Sunday, February 14, but this event happens to fall on the Bowers' "Target Free First Sunday," which means you can check out the museum's permanent and rotating exhibits—like, if you're looking to stick with the whole Chinese theme, "Ancient Arts of China: A 5000 Year Legacy."
Sun., Feb. 7, 12-3:30 p.m., 2010
