There’s a lot of suffering and pain depicted on stage during any production of the super-popular musical Rent. But the fictional slings and arrows that befall its cast pale in comparison to the real-life story of the play’s creator, Jonathan Larson. After spending seven years honing the show, Larson attended its last dress rehearsal before its Off-Broadway premiere on Jan. 24, 1996. He died the following morning of an undiagnosed aortic aneurysm. He was 35. tick, tick...BOOM is an earlier musical than Rent, and is a mostly autobiographical look at a struggling New York composer who fears he’s made the wrong career choice and questions his commitment to his craft. Fridays, Saturdays, 8 p.m.; Sundays, 2 p.m. Starts: Jan. 15. Continues through Feb. 20, 2010
