Lecture: What Makes Music Beautiful?

Irvine Barclay Theatre

Frédéric Chopin, Franz Liszt and Felix Mendelssohn. President, artistic director and resident lecturer of the Philharmonic Society of Orange County Dean Corey celebrates these and other famous composers from the Romantic Era who reached a milestone birth or death anniversary this year (Chopin, for example, was born 200 years ago). The night includes a discussion of the composers’ lives and works, as well as the correlation between their masterpieces and those of other famous contemporaries—and culminates with delicious wine tasting and, perhaps, a new fascination with classical music.
Wed., Jan. 6, 7 p.m., 2010
