Boat Parade of Lights

Dana Point Harbor

You know why Santa’s always jolly? Because he knows where all the bad girls live. His only problem in OC, though, is that beach bunnies aren’t impressed by anyone whose ride is a sleigh with nine smelly reindeer. The solution? He takes a lawn chair, blanket and hot drink down to Dana Point Harbor for the annual Boat Parade of Lights and scopes out an appropriate new mode of conveyance. There’ll be about 100 spectacularly lit crafts—last year, from an 82-footer to a 9-foot dinghy—competing for awards in multiple categories. This year’s theme? Santa’s Surfin’ Safari. Caveat for nice girls: Beware bearded, fat sailor bearing gifts—you may be happy to see him, but that’s not a candy cane in his pocket.
Fridays, Saturdays, 7:30 p.m. Starts: Dec. 11. Continues through Dec. 19, 2009
