Playwright Robert Harling sure knows how to write a strong, complex female character. Aside from his smash Broadway play, Steel Magnolias (which was turned into one of the greatest chick flicks of all time, starring Julia Roberts and Sally Field), Harling has brewed up some serious femme-power stories such as The First Wives Club and is currently working on the film version of Dallas . This stage production of Steel Magnolias , brought to the La Mirada Theatre by award-winning McCoy Rigby Entertainment, casts Tony Award-nominated Cathy Rigby in the role of MLynn, Emmy Award-winning actress Michael Learned as the loveable-yet-crotchety Ouiser and a big helping of that famous Southern hospitality.
Tuesdays-Thursdays, 7:30 p.m. Starts: Oct. 6. Continues through Oct. 15, 2009
