Jack's Fourth Show featuring Joan Jett and the Blackhearts

Verizon Wireless Amphitheater

By Chris Zielger

Published on October 06, 2009 at 2:40am

The Runaways played one of their earliest shows (if not the first) at a house party in Garden Grove, covered by diligent, vigilant Bomp! magazine—establishing even then Joan Jett had a dedicated audience in Orange County. At this Verizon Amphitheater show, the house will be a little bigger—same with the lawn—but Jett and the stalwarts in the Blackhearts have refined their rock & roll not one bit. She’s also helming a film about the variously fictionalized Runaways—more evidence that, even when she’s tearing at that guitar in front of an entire stadium, she’s still a little bit larger than life.
