LA hip-hop duo People Under the Stairs celebrated 10 years together last December—a decade since high-school days and pressing records that broke the machine after 200 copies of that first 12-inch. Since then, Thes One (also co-founder of LA’s formidable Tres label) and Double K have plowed through six full-lengths with a loyal audience behind them. Analog-friendly beats and lyrics about life-as-it-is are the bedrock of hip-hop, and with something as solid as that to stand on, they’ll make another 10 years if they want.
