OC Children's Book Festival

Orange Coast College

By Jack Grimshaw

Jacqueline Kennedy put it pretty well, “There are many little ways to enlarge your child’s world. Love of books is the best of all.” The Orange County Children’s Book Festival, which celebrates the joy of reading, will definitely enlarge your child’s world—along with a zillion books and authors, there are storytellers, costumed characters, drawing lessons, train rides, taiko drummers, Irish and flamenco dance, games, food and more. Every kid (and the kid in every adult) will be in hog heaven. Speaking of which, there’s a petting zoo, tropical birds and Wilma the Giant Python. “To learn to read is to light a fire,” wrote Victor (Les Miserables ) Hugo. “Every syllable that is spelled out is a spark.” So, go—light up your child’s life.
