When the original Atari was founded in 1972, producing arcade games and home video game consoles for such gripping experiences as Pong, no one could have guessed the chain reaction their pioneering efforts would set off. Today, on top of having a line of semi-popular logo t-shirts at stores like Hot Topic, the company also has a band named after them. The Ataris, a five-member group from Santa Barbara, have made quite an impact on the punk rock world, even going so far as to have one of their songs, “When the Lights Go Out in NYC” used on the hit Spiderman 2 soundtrack. Now after 12 years, five albums, one EP and several US tours, you can witness the phenomenon that is The Ataris as they perform live at Chain Reaction.
