Rumor has it that following a global nuclear exchange, the only things that will survive will be roaches, possibly rats—and probably twinkies. Whatever the veracity of these possibilities, there should be one more item added to that list—vinyl records. Even though it’s been nearly three decades since the arrival of CDs (which are on their way out, too), records refuse to be trampled underfoot by the death march of progress. This is evidenced by the Fullerton Museum’s upcoming workshop, “The Art of Vinyl.” Participants will be taught how to alter the worn relics of their glory years into functional works of art, suitable perhaps for home decor. Finally, a practical use for those dusty old Air Supply albums.
