In the big book of nightlife commandments, sacrificing a fashionably late entrance by leaving the house early is a definite no-no. Many of you jaded night owls wouldn’t be caught dead lining up for a club before midnight. However, showing up late for Get Down OC, Proof’s weekly sacrament of electro and house, could lead to the greatest sin of all: waiting outside for a really long time. Since its inception in 2008, the event has become an institution among fans of cheap drinks, hard beats and packed dance floors. Propelled by the turntable prowess of resident DJs Jazzwell and Jimmy Rigg, Get Down is the only event in downtown Santa Ana that will rope you to the dance floor even before you’ve taken advantage of their drink specials. By the way, $2 shots and complimentary champagne for the ladies are always good reasons to show up by 11 p.m. Remember, if you want to Get Down, you have to get in early.
