Premiere Haute Couture: Reflections of Fashion

Wyndham Orange County

By Amanda Parsons

Published on August 06, 2009 at 2:40am

The lengths women will go to be in fashion are interminable. Corsets, foot binding, ridiculous hats—they’ve all been part of that ever-present quest for beauty. Have a look at these and other fashions—uncomfortable and otherwise—as they have appeared throughout history at “Premiere Haute Couture: Reflections of Fashion,” currently on display at the Wyndham Hotel in Costa Mesa. This exhibit includes fashion art and photography by Barbara Higgins (one of the hotel’s most cherished artists), and displays years of fashion depicting haute couture’s transition over time. Just one piece of advice: wear somewhat comfortable shoes, because if you’re a fashionista, you’ll be there for a while.
