Poetry in the Gallery

MOLAA

Pablo Neruda knows that sometimes poetry is the best poison. His works are timeless, passionate and cut deep into the rawness of human frailty and it’s thirst for blood, violence and power. Neruda has been called the greatest poet of the 20th century and was honored with a Nobel Prize for Literature in 1971. He was always living under the heat lamp for his involvement with the Chilean Communist Party and whether in hot water romantically or politically, his poems are a rippled testament to his life, observations and experiences. His collection of erotic poems called, Veinte poemas de amor y una canción desesperada caused a shock wave – how could a young man of nineteen express such things? But he did and he made a name for himself. This July 12 marks what would’ve been his 105th birthday. Come see actress Kamala Lopez and other celebrity poetry readers bring his work to life.
