Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

Orange County Performing Arts Center

Remember at the end of Back to the Future when Doc Brown said, “Roads? Where we’re going, we don’t need roads!”? Well, the same is true for more cars than just that famed silver DeLorean. In Ian Fleming’s 1964 children’s story Chitty Chitty Bang Bang , a former Grand Prix-winning race car, damaged in an accident, is fixed by an inventor, and then begins to exhibit some very special characteristics for its new owners—like sprouting wings and flying. Now this beloved tale of magical advances in science and engineering comes to Orange County, bringing with it a stage design so spectacular the show’s flying car is being acclaimed as on par with the chandelier from Phantom of the Opera and the helicopter from Miss Saigon .
