Jamie Foxx

The Grove of Anaheim

Though he had been making music for years (his first album, 1994’s Peep This, seemed to evade mainstream success, though singing alongside Kanye West on Twista’s “Slow Jamz” earned him some credibility ten years later) it took Jamie Foxx to sing as someone else before the music world took him seriously. Grammy-nominated, Billboard chart-topping, star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, millions of albums sold seriously. After the major success of Ray, Foxx pumped out a few Charles-inspired hooks for Kanye West and Ludacris, then went onto take another shot at his own album, 2005’s Unpredictable, this time going double platinum. Last December, the actor released his third album, Intuition, which has already sold more than a million copies. This Thursday, Foxx makes a special appearance at the Grove—a warm-up performance to kick start his upcoming national tour.
