Every month, the Museum of Latin American Art brings us an in-depth look into the world of film, as influenced by members of the Latino community. This time around, actress/director/producer Kamala Lopez shares her work—from TV spots to movie roles to her work behind the camera. After her movie A Single Woman premiered in the U.S. Capitol for members of Congress, it was invited to be screened at the Smithsonian Institution’s National Portrait Gallery as a part of the “Women of Our Time” exhibition. Excerpts from her film will be shown, and Lopez will also present a short retrospective of her acting career, including roles in I Heart Huckabees and Born in East LA. And, we can only hope, some clips will be shown from her movie I Killed My Lesbian Wife, Hung Her on a Meat Hook and Now I Have a 3 Picture Deal at Disney.
