DESPERATION IS SO UNATTRACTIVE
With this kind of platform, Chuck DeVore and the Republicans will have no future, no matter what technology they use [Gustavo Arellano’s “What the Chuck?” May 22]. They are used to listening and hearing their positions pounded out over and over on the AM, right-wing, talk-radio echo chamber, probably wondering why they keep losing even with having four to five 50-kilowatt Southern California AM stations and talk-show hosts in their pockets. They’ve lost the younger voters, scared away a lot of independents and are the party of No. . . . Who wants to be in a party like that? End of story and DeVore.

A REMEMBRANCE
Thanks, Scott, for writing this story [R. Scott Moxley’s “A Death In the Family,” May 22]. It is the most accurate article I’ve read about Vu. He always had fond memories of working at OC Weekly. It was where he learned to be a journalist. When he first started working there, he wanted to be an entertainment reporter. He loved listening to new CDs, going to concerts of up-and-coming bands, and trying out new restaurants. However, after working at the Weekly, he found out that he could make a difference and never looked back.

TERRORIZED
I am a Muslim who has seen Craig Monteilh at the Irvine masjid [Nick Schou’s “Who Was That Mosqued Man?” May 1]. The man is a clown, con man and liar. He completely lies about almost everything. No Muslim in Orange County would think about making a bomb. The moment I read that, I knew that this guy had some ulterior agenda and completely fabricates things to get attention (or money. I don’t know which).

Muslims loading mosques with barrels? Any Muslim from OC reading that knows it’s the largest bunch of nonsense. Muslims load mosque kitchens with many things, but not bombs!

This loser needs to be arrested, seriously.

Just because Monteilh is a clown doesn’t mean that these bad actors shouldn’t be monitored. The Fort Dix Six, which had a somewhat-shady undercover informant, just got stiff, life-plus-38-years sentences for plotting attacks.

As far as religious and racial profiling goes, if Jews were flying planes into buildings in the United States to murder American citizens in the name of Judaism and had a central religious tenet that they must convert, subjugate or kill non-Jews, then synagogues (or any religious sect that espoused such beliefs) would and should be monitored.

Oh, and Craig Monteilh, since you are most likely considered an apostate, the Koran places a death sentence on you—so you better watch your back.

What kind of stupid women would give a guy more than $150,000? Either he’s a great con artist, or they’re really dumb. And cops charged him with ripping those women off on a drug deal? Are they serious? He did prison time for that? Did cops arrest those women for attempting to purchase illegal [substances]? I don’t think so. Great justice system. No wonder this informant came out the way he did.
