Rushmore

Regency South Coast Village

There’s something strangely endearing about Max Fischer, the 15-year-old lead character in Wes Anderson’s dry comedy Rushmore. Co-written by Owen Wilson, this film follows the life of a boy with an obsession for extracurriculars. French Club? President. Stamp and Coin Club? Vice President. Fencing Team? Captain. Kung Fu Club? Yellow Belt. Too bad he’s failing all his required classes at his beloved private school. Forced to go to a (gasp!) public school, Max falls in love with a teacher and ends up battling a frumpy Bill Murray for her affections. If oddball comedies tickle your funny bone, don’t miss this special screening Wednesday night.
