Rob Riggle

Irvine Improv

By NATE JACKSON

Published on April 16, 2009 at 2:41am

There’s something ultimately endearing about a guy who can both make you laugh and kick your ass. For most of his life, Rob Riggle has been that guy. Enjoying a steady swell of notoriety as a cast member on Saturday Night Live and The Daily Show with John Stewart , this Marine Corps Major-turned-comic has garnered a mean rep as a funny man who can take his act anywhere. And after a decade on the stand-up circuit, he is probably the only person you know that can say he’s performed and fought overseas. This week, Riggle is staging a hostile takeover of the Irvine Improv—but don’t get it twisted, any of you who saw the Daily Show episode of him screaming like a teenage girl during an Obama rally know that this guy isn’t afraid of his flamboyant side for the sake of a few laughs. However, we’d advise you not to call him “girly” to his face.
