Art of the Samurai

Bowers Museum

The newest exhibition to grace the Bowers Museum comes to us all the way from Japan—and from the admirable and deeply respected Samurai culture. Titled “Art of the Samurai: Selections from the Tokyo National Museum,” this stunning collection of 81 pieces range everywhere from swords and armor to tea-ceremony utensils, screen paintings and theatre costumes. Most objects date back to the Edo period (1603–1868) and many have the distinguished honor of being classified as Important Cultural Property and National Treasures of Japan.
Tuesdays-Sundays, 10 a.m. Starts: April 19. Continues through June 14, 2009
