Former Mexican President Vicente Fox came into office the same year as George W. Bush, and from most accounts, the two became bosom buddieseven wearing the same black cowboy boots when they met up at Foxs ranch in Guanajuato, prompting the Wall Street Journal to call it Boot Summit. Fox was a relatively popular presidentand apparently made lots of money doing it, although investigations into his illicit enrichment programs are still ongoing. He didnt start a war, and he left office with a 70 percent approval rating. Then he built Mexicos first presidential library and had a statue of himself erectedtwice (protestors pulled the first one down). Some UC Irvine students are protesting his appearance at the university Wednesday, so wear your rotten-veggie-proof parka, just in case.
