The Sleeping BeautyBarlcay TheatreBy Amanda ParsonsPublished on April 02, 2009 at 2:43amMost of us know the story of Sleeping Beauty as it was told through Disney animators. While visually stimulating, their rendition was a bit scary to some little ones who just werent ready for witches that turn into dragons or evil minions that resemble scary ogres. But the timeless tale of love, royalty and magic has made its way to the family-friendly ballet stage with Festival Ballet Theatres twentieth anniversary season showing of The Sleeping Beauty. The performance is designed to introduce children to the beauty of ballet and the extraordinary classical music of Tchaikovsky while dazzling the eye with lavish sets, exquisite costumes and flexible dancers. This version is fun for the entire family, dragon-free, and a cheerful reminder that good always triumphs over evil.
