Shakespeare by the Sea

Warner Grand Theater

Published on April 02, 2009 at 2:41am

San Pedro based non-profit theatre troop Shakespeare by the Sea will be screening Kenneth Branagh’s film adaptation of As You Like It to prepare audiences and generate funding for their 2009 free summer productions of the live version of it and Shakespeare’s Loves Labour’s Lost. Starring Bryce Dallas Howard, Kevin Kline and Romola Garia, the film As You Like It features Shakespeare’s classic tale of love, loss and cross-dressing set not in the typical classical English setting, but the stunning forests of Japan to add a twist. An optional reception (held before the film screening) costs a bit extra but provides you with a chance to meet the actors who have been working hard to produce the eleven-years-running free summer series coming in June.
