Encounters with Whales

Published on February 26, 2009 at 2:42am

Lecture by Jeanne Sleeper. Jeanne’s presentation will include many pictures of her encounters with whales in the environment in which they live, the deep oceans of the world. She loves the whales and is passionate about their conservation. So as not to disturb them, she has a boat dump her out in the middle of the ocean where she sometimes waits for over twelve hours in hopes that a whale will show up. On a good day they come right up to her. She has encountered big killer whales, huge humpbacks, sperm whales and gray whales. She has picked arthropods off from around their eyes and even scratched the pink tongue of a baby gray whale. You and your family are invited to this fun-filled and educational event.
