Ozomatli

Let us tell you a lil’ something about Ozomatli. It be the base and the catlyst, house band for the City of Angels. Whether this legendary Latin-funk-hip-hop-rock ensemble is rooting for the Dodgers, marching against the War, playing labor rallies or touring for the U.S. State Department, no musical boosters have been so faithful to shout out the fact and fantasy of the So. Cal. basin since Randy Newman cruised Century Blvd. to Sixth Street. Ozomatli should have its own listing in Fodor’s Los Angeles as a geo-musical-metaphorical place—but they are too omnipresent for that, with irony and joy sharing the stage wherever they take it. And maybe especially at, of all places, Downtown Disney’s House of Blues, a venue kinda small for their big bass, big brass and big hearts but just right for clever, hipster you.
